Virginia Chadwick Honoured
An inspiring and dedicated leader in marine conservation who passed away in 2009 has been recognised for her tireless contribution to the protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Chairman Dr Russell Reichelt today (20 May) announced a previously unnamed reef (reef 18-016) had been named after the Hon Dr Virginia Chadwick AO.
Virginia was the first female chair of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. During her eight years at the helm she made an immense contribution to protecting this great natural treasure for the future.
Virginia Chadwick Reef is located in the Bandjin Reefs Group in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (Lat 18°00'14" S and Long 146°50'20" E).
