Public consultation period is now closed. The GBRMPA received 19 submissions and these will be taken into consideration during the development process.
Location
Keswick Island is approximately 32 kilometres east of Mackay.
Proposal
Keswick Developments Pty Ltd propose to install a jetty on the southern end of Horseshoe Bay on the eastern side of the island facing out into Egremont Passage towards St Bees Island. The proposed jetty will be 119 metres to the tee head and will have 19 piles. At the tee head there will be a 20 metre gangway leading to a 16.5 metre x 8 metre pontoon which is anchored to the seabed via a seaflex mooring system with the anchor being via concrete blocks.
Persons who believed that Keswick Island jetty proposal may restrict their reasonable use of part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park were invited to lodge written comments on the proposal by 12 November 2010, this consultation period has now closed.
