Trends in recreational visitation by Queensland coastal residents
Fernbach, 2008:
"There is little historic data available about the volume of recreational visits to the Great Barrier Reef. However, the data that is available indicates a general upwards trend in recreational visits by Queensland coastal residents.
In 2007, 42 per cent of Queensland coastal residents had visted the Marine Park for recreation in the last 12 months (Young & Temperton, 2007), compared with 32 percent in 2005 (AEC Group, 2005)."
