Cape York rangers
Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership 2008:
"Over the last ten years programs aimed at increasing Aboriginal engagement in the natural resource management workforce have focused on developing rangers at the entry level. While rangers are an important component of delivery, and many Aboriginal people aspire to becoming rangers, there are other skills sets of equal importance to service delivery.
Regional natural resource management organisations formed to roll out NHT2 across Australia illustrate the skills required to deliver services. A look at any one of these will show different mixes of practitioners from a broad range of technical, management and business disciplines, brought together to tackle the many and varied issues in a region.
Cape York also needs this diverse workforce. It is important to build and continually develop capabilities across a broad range of career paths and occupations at entry level through to senior leadership and specialist roles."
