Recreational fishing effort proxy on GBR Coast
Figure 1. Number of speedboat (>4.5 kwbp) vessel registrations in statistical divisions (in the Great Barrier Reef Catchment) with more than 5000 registered speedboat vessels. Vessels in the category 'speedboat' are considered to be capable of travelling to at least the inner reef. Nearly 70 000 vessels were registered as speedboats in 2007 in the Great Barrier Reef Catchment. The majority of these (77 per cent) were between 3 and 5m in length. A further 19 per cent were between 5 and 8 m in length. Data from Queensland Transport.
