Vessel sewage management

Vessel sewage regulations for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park were introduced by the GBRMPA on 1 January 2005.

The regulations for the discharge of vessel sewage in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park align with those of Maritime Safety Queensland and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

The regulations offer a range of sewage management options for vessel owners and operators to help maintain the environmental, health and aesthetic values of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
