Tourism and recreation partnerships
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and the marine tourism industry are pursuing common goals of a healthy sustainable reef and a vibrant sustainable tourism industry. The GBRMPA and operators work in partnership to help manage the Reef:
- High Standard Tourism Program
- Eye on the Reef Program
- Eyes and Ears Program
- Sightings Network
- Marine Monitoring Program
- Bleachwatch
- Crown-of-thorns Starfish Control Program
Marine Park users also assist the GBRMPA in the management of the Marine Park through a range of activities undertaken by volunteer organisations:
- Order of Underwater Coral Heroes (OUCH)
- Low Isles Preservation Society (LIPS)
- Reef Guardian Schools
- Seagrass-Watch
- CAPReef (monitor recreational use and effort in the Capricorn Reef Area)
- ReefCheck
