Tourist visitation to directly managed sites
The Cairns and Whitsundays Planning Areas equate to less than eight per cent of the entire Marine Park and experience over 85 per cent of the visits.
Ninety-nine per cent of all tourism visitation occurs in the Whitsundays Planning Area and the Cairns Planning Area (includes offshore Port Douglas). The graph below shows the share of visitor days across the Planning Areas. "Other" refers to the Hinchinbrook Planning Area.
