Commercial trawl fishing: spatial distribution of 2007 catch (grids)

Map shows spatial distribution of retained catch in the East Coast Otter trawl fleet in 2007 in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park World Heritage Area. Catch is recorded as tonnes per 30 minute grid (30 x 30 nautical miles). There are five main areas where suitable habitats (sediment types) exist for the main target species (prawns, scallops and bugs) in this fishery. Generally these habitats are associated with embayments and major river systems. Grids with less than five boats operating in a year have been identified but no catch information given.
