Transferring Your Permit
Most Marine Parks tourism permits are transferable. A permit transfer simply involves changing the name of the permit holder. All other permit details, including the expiry date and usually the conditions, remain the same.
How do I apply?
To apply to transfer a permit you must complete a Permit Transfer Application Form and forward a hard copy to the GBRMPA. You should apply at least 28 days prior to the proposed date of transfer.
Only the permit holder can apply to transfer their permit.
Who has to sign the form?
Where there is more than one permit holder, all persons whose names appear on the permit must sign the Permit Transfer Application Form. Where one or more of the permit holders is a company, the application form must be signed in the name of the company by a person who is authorised by the company to sign on their behalf. This person's name and position must also be included and proof of the authorisation must be provided.
All the intended permit holders must also sign the Permit Transfer Application Form. Again, where one or more of the intended permit holders is a company, the application form must be signed in the name of the company by a person who is authorised by the company to sign on their behalf. This person's name and position must also be included and proof of the authorisation must be provided.
How much does a transfer cost?
The Transfer Fee is $600 (valid for 2016 calendar year only).
You may pay the fee when you apply for the transfer. Otherwise, you will be sent an invoice that must be paid within 10 days or the application will lapse.
How is the application assessed?
In assessing your transfer application the GBRMPA must consider a range of issues including:
- any overdue payments of the current or future permit holder;
- if the application is related to an undeveloped project, the cost of which will be large - the capacity of the intended permit holder to satisfactorily develop the project; and
- the need to ensure orderly and proper management of the Marine Park.
How does the transfer happen?
The current permit holder will be requested by the GBRMPA to return the permit, submit outstanding Environmental Management Charge (EMC) log books and/or charging returns, and pay any outstanding EMC by the transfer date. If the transfer is granted, the intended permit holder will be sent a new permit, log book and/or charging returns and can begin operating.
