Along with the Regulations, Zoning Plan, and Plans of Management, your permit conditions are the 'road rules' for your use of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park.
You are legally required to abide by your permit conditions and in doing so you are helping to ensure that your operation is sustainable.
Conditions specific to your permit
Your permit may contain conditions relating specifically to your operation such as:
- the way you conduct activities;
- the number of times you may access an area or a location;
- areas that you must not access (exclusion areas);
- the maximum number of passengers and crew you may carry;
- the type of aircraft or size of vessel you may use.
Please find these conditions on your permit and ensure you comply with them.
General conditions for most permits
Your permit may contain general conditions that apply to most operations, such as:
- deeds of agreement;
- arrangements for nominating your vessel or aircraft (including emergency breakdowns);
- having your permit available ;
- services you provide to other operators;
- providing information about management controls;
- abiding by the laws of Queensland.
General conditions for specific styles of operation
Permits for some particular types of tourism operations may have a set of key conditions relating to the activities undertaken. These include:
- game fishing and charter fishing;
- whale watching;
- motorised water sports;
- cruise shipping;
- long range roving operations;
- bareboat operations;
- hire operations;
- fishfeeding;
- operating a pontoon.
