As a Marine Park tour operator, your obligation to collect the EMC from visitors includes correctly representing the amount of the EMC when advertising fare prices. It is your responsibility to ensure consistency across all media including websites, brochures, television advertising, tax invoices, receipts, etc.
The GBRMPA supports operators who choose to incorporate the EMC into their overall ticket price and there is no requirement to state the fee separate to the ticket price in these circumstances. However, where additional fees and charges are advertised, and you have chosen to advertise or collect the EMC separately to the ticket price then you should ensure that a consumer can readily identify the correct EMC component (normally $5.00 per person per day - valid at 1 April 2007).
Examples of correct EMC advertising include:
- Ticket price - $…. or
- Ticket price - $….
Plus EMC - $5.00 or - Ticket price - $….
plus fees $….
(including EMC - $5.00)
EMC posters for vessels and booking offices
To make it easier for you to correctly explain to your passengers what the EMC is, how the money is spent to improve the management and protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and how much each visitor pays, there are two full colour posters that convey these messages (see Download Posters at top right of page).
Both posters are suitable to be printed in either A3 or A4 size.
