Statement: permanent drumlines/nets at Cid Harbour

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has not been approached about installing permanent drumlines and/or nets in Cid Harbour.

If we received a permit application, it would need to go through a robust assessment process in line with the requirements of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Regulations 1983.

We are working closely with the state government to advise people not to swim at Cid Harbour, plus provide general shark safety education. Buoys and markers warning the public of sharks have already been installed in the harbour.
