Call for final entries in Gladstone marine debris video competition

Young video makers in the Gladstone region are reminded they have until Friday 30 May to put the spotlight on marine debris, as part of a competition by the Gladstone Local Marine Advisory Committee.

Entrants in the video competition will be in the running to take home an iPad or GoPro Hero 3.

The competition aims to raise awareness about the serious hazards posed to marine life by plastics and other marine debris.

The competition is open to the region’s young people between 8 and 18 years of age. Individual or group entries will be accepted.

Older Gladstone residents may also enter the competition for a chance to win a trophy and prize pack.

Entries will be featured on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s YouTube channel where the public will be encouraged to vote for their favourite video.

Winners will be announced on 16 June 2014.

The Gladstone Local Marine Advisory Committee is one of 12 Local Marine Advisory Committees located between Bundaberg and Cooktown that advise the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority on local Reef issues.
