Notification of the collection of personal information

Personal information you provide to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act). The Privacy Act provides for 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) that regulate how the agency must handle your personal information.

Why we collect your information

If you choose to make a submission to the agency about the consultation documents relating to the permission system, your personal information, such as your email address, postal address or other contact details may be provided to us with your submission. If you decide to provide your personal information to us, we will not use this information for any purpose.

Our APP Privacy Policy contains information about how you may:

  • access your personal information and seek correction of your personal information
  • complain to GBRMPA about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles and how we will deal with your complaint.
