Who Participates?

Management of the Great Barrier Reef involves a wide range of councils, agencies and committees.

Although the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is the principal adviser to the Commonwealth Government, many other government agencies and non-government organisations participate in the management of the Marine Park. For example, all Federal Police and some Queensland Water Police are Marine Park Inspectors. Listed here are some of the government agencies that collaborate closely with the Authority.
