The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority in partnership with the Australian Greenhouse Office have prepared a five-year Climate Change Action Plan. This Plan establishes a programme of practical actions to complement international climate change measures and enhance the long-term resilience of the Great Barrier Reef.

The Action Plan focuses on targeting science, developing strategies to support the natural resilience of the ecosystem, promoting adaptation of industries and communities, and reducing the climate footprint. Building on existing resilience stategies, such as the Zoning Plan and Reef Water Quality Protection Plan will be integral to reducing the impacts of climate-induced stresses.

Funding to implement the Action Plan has been provided under the National Climate Change Adaptation Framework and will rely on partnerships with industry, communities and government.
