Annual Report 2014–15

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority's 2014–15 annual report details our work in managing one of the world's living treasures, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

We've reported against the three objectives set out in the agency's strategic and corporate plans:

  1. Protect and restore the Reef's biodiversity
  2. Safeguard the Reef's heritage values
  3. Ensure use of the Great Barrier Reef Region is ecologically sustainable and the socio-economic benefits derived from the Reef are maintained.

A key focus for 2014–15 was working with our partners in the development of the Reef 2050 Plan — the overarching framework for protecting and managing the Great Barrier Reef over the next 35 years.

We also released our second Outlook Report on the Reef's health and likely future, banned the disposal of dredge material in the Marine Park from capital dredging projects such as port developments, and created two new special management areas to protect heritage sites.
