Consultation on proposed Great Keppel Island development

An application for a proposed resort and marina at Great Keppel Island is currently being assessed by the Australian and Queensland governments.

No decisions have been made on this project at this stage.

The proponents have developed an environmental impact statement on the project’s potential environmental, social, cultural and heritage effects and how these will be managed.

This is currently open for public comment, and we invite you to submit your comments through the public consultation process.

All major developments in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park are subject to close scrutiny, and subject to a robust assessment process.

This proposal is being assessed by both the Australian and Queensland governments through separate but parallel assessment processes (with 60 and 30 day consultation periods respectively).

When assessing this proposal, the cumulative impact from nearby developments will be considered.
