From 1 July 2020, fines for illegal activities in the Marine Park have increased.

Every five years, we publish an Outlook Report that examines the Great Barrier Reef’s health, pressures, and likely future. We also produce an in brief summary of the report.

Crown-of-thorns starfish control program

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority runs a crown-of-thorns starfish control program to protect a network of priority coral reefs from outbreaks of coral-eating starfish.
